BDNY 2023 Designed Space

For BDNY 2023, our studio was invited to design one of the four Designed Spaces on the floor. We collaborated with Within Light Studio to design for Hyatt, highlighting their Andaz resort properties. Our goal was to pay homage to that magic hour that truly defines every beach getaway – chilling with a cocktail, watching a vast expanse of sky cycle through every imaginable color as the sun goes down. Capturing the vibe of a beachy sunset inside the cavernous Javits Center was quite the challenge, so we went a bit surreal with the execution, utilizing Lutron's Ketra system to help create a sunset cycle throughout the entire day. Three times a day, the center section was zoned off with retractable screens in order to create a more intimate proportion in the center that supported Within Light's immersive lighting experiences, each inspired by a mood we wanted to conjure.
